BFO SET FOR HIGH-STAKES SHOWDOWN AT SPANOS STADIUM

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Fresh off his triumphant return and third Freestyle Fiesta title in San Antonio, Tyler Mansell will headline a stacked field of Bullfighters Only athletes at the next event: a special one-night showcase Thursday, April 9, at Cal Poly’s Alex G. Spanos Stadium as part of the 84th Annual Poly Royal Rodeo.

The night celebrates the 125th anniversary of Cal Poly’s College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences with an action-packed, non-traditional rodeo experience. Four elite BFO freestyle bullfighters including 2022 and 2024 world champion Tyler Mansell, 2025 world champion Chance Moorman, Cole Pfister and rising rookie Brody Brogan — will compete in a long round, with the top two advancing to a head-to-head matchup.

Mansell’s recent victory in San Antonio has him riding high momentum. “It’s such a confidence booster to see my name at the top of the standings this early in the year,” Mansell said after the win. “It’s nice but it’s not easy to maintain with guys like these breathing down your neck.”

The event features high-intensity freestyle bullfighting alongside motocross performances by The Flying Cowboyz, showcases from Cal Poly organizations, traditional rodeo elements, concessions, and a drone show finale. The theme is Cal Poly Heritage and fans are encouraged to dress in vintage, western and old-school Cal Poly-inspired attire to embrace the school’s green-and-gold pride.
