MANSELL CLAIMS THIRD FREESTYLE FIESTA TITLE IN TRIUMPHANT RETURN

SAN ANTONIO — Tyler Mansell made a statement in his first competition back from a year-long injury absence, winning the 2026 Bullfighters Only Freestyle Fiesta on Sunday at Freeman Coliseum.

The “Caldwell Kid” opened with 88.5 points in Round 1 and followed with a gritty 87-point performance in the championship round to secure his third title at the event (2023, 2024 and now 2026).

Mansell tore his ACL and meniscus during the 2024 BFO World Finals in Las Vegas. He underwent two knee surgeries, and suffered a training setback that delayed his planned return for the 2025 finals, forcing him to miss the entire 2025 season. “It’s so good to be back doing what I love,” Mansell said. “Adding another San Antonio title is great, but just being back out there with my friends was the real highlight.”

Chance Moorman finished second overall in front of his hometown faithful. In the championship round, Moorman drew the 2024 BFO Bull of the Year, Red Dawn from Honcho Fighting Bulls, but the speedy beast got the better of him.

Another local athlete, Robert Renteria, thrilled the San Antonio crowd by qualifying for his first-ever short go with 87.5 points in the earlier round. He continued his strong showing with 85 points during the championship round.

Rookie Brody Brogan made a big statement with an impressive 87-point fight in his BFO debut, though he did not advance to the championship round. The Spaniard Daniel Alcala started strong but was outmaneuvered by a smart bull that pegged his ground moves.

Ultimately, Mansell made a big statement with his first win back, reinforcing that he will be a major challenge once again this season. “It’s such a confidence booster to see my name at the top of the standings this early in the year,” Mansell said. “I have been through a lot to get back to this and I want to stay here.”
